Company Description
Investors Real Estate Trust (IRET) a self-advised equity real estate investment trust (REIT). The Company is engaged in owning and operating income-producing real estate properties. IRET is structured as an Umbrella Partnership Real Estate Investment Trust (UPREIT) and it conducts business operations through its operating partnership, IRET Properties, a North Dakota Limited Partnership (IRET Properties). Its investments consist of multi-family residential properties and commercial office, commercial medical, commercial industrial and commercial retail properties. These properties are located primarily in the upper Midwest states of Minnesota and North Dakota. During the fiscal year ended April 30, 2012 (fiscal 2011), its real estate investments in these two states accounted for 69% of its total gross revenue. It operates in five real estate segments: multi-family residential, commercial office, commercial medical (including senior housing), commercial industrial and commercial retail.
