FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

Where does the data come from?

We source our fundamental data from companies' annual reports as well as other reliable sources.

How up to date is the data?

We use only companies' annual reports (no quarterly reports). New fundamental data is adopted after the annual reports are published. Prices (end-of-day) are imported on every trading day.

Is it free to use?

Yes, the basic features are permanently free. Premium features such as watchlists and portfolio tracking are available from 19,99 € / month. More about pricing

Can I use an API?

Yes, we offer a REST API for fundamental data.

Is it possible to define your own filter criteria in the program (e.g. revenue or profit)?

Yes, we have extended our filter with the following criteria: revenue, profit/income, total assets, equity, EPS, operating cash flow, free cash flow, long-term debt and short-term debt. Of course, you can also save your filter.

How do you detect falsified balance sheets (e.g. cases like Wirecard)?

When balance sheets are manipulated and all the control instances in between fail, it is nearly impossible for outsiders to determine this reliably through pure numerical analysis based on the annual report.

Nevertheless, we have integrated an additional safety net into our F-Score calculation: the Piotroski F-Score.

Do you take future prospects or trend outlooks into account in stock valuation?

Future prospects are not considered by Finanzoo, since we only use verifiable numerical data. Trend topics belong more to technical analysis.

In backtesting, we examined various technical indicators. For a long investment horizon, the SMA200 (200-day moving average) consistently delivered good results and is considered on buying. We do not consider it on selling, since it showed negative results there.

How do you calculate the F-Score?

Our Finanzoo F-Score rates stocks based on P/E, P/B, P/FCF, ROA, equity ratio and dividend. Details can be found in the Wiki.

Is there an app?

Not currently, but it is planned. The website is responsive and works on all devices.
